I worked with Alik at GreenGo to book a 5 night / 6 day cruise in the Galapagos. Anyone planning a similar trip knows how agonizing it can be to plan / pick the “right” company and boat. Writing a detailed review to help ease planning stress for others. 1. GreenGo: I did most of my research on their well organized website. I liked the way they presented the routes and boat details. They honored a competitor’s price without any hesitation, a clue to their great service. And when I made a bizarre mistake confusing the departure date, Alik helped me make the boat. He was always calm and professional. I would use GreenGo again in a heartbeat! 2. Galaxy Vessel: There were not many reviews about this boat when I chose it, and I am happy to add a positive review! Cabin #5 had two comfortable beds, a nice window, a large (for a boat) bathroom, and ample storage space for our bags. Marcello, who was in charge of our meals and keeping us happy on board, was so friendly and kind. The boat was clean, well managed, and well staffed. The food portions were good (not a lot of waste), nice variety, lots of vegetables and fruits. I appreciated the vegetarian options. The top deck was great for viewing a rainbow at sunrise most mornings. Friendly captain and crew. 3. Itinerary: We picked the Galaxy because it hit the sweet spot of # of islands, level of activity, availability, and price. We had 2-3 activities a day focusing on seeing wildlife, hiking, and snorkeling. When some guests found some of the hikes too difficult, our great guide came up with alternatives for them to enjoy the visit. The snorkeling gear was included, nice quality. We had enough time at each site to take photos and observe the animals and landscapes. I never felt rushed. There was also “mandatory siestas” after lunch every day. 2-3 hours on board where you could read, keep up your travel journal, nap, enjoy the view, or do whatever makes you happy. Those couple of hours were an excellent break in a busy schedule. 4. Guide: we loved Renny! He was passionate, deeply knowledgeable, friendly, and did a great job managing the 16 people in our group. Guides are really your cruise “project managers” in addition to being professional naturalists. Renny is skilled as his job. Guides are freelancers, so there is no guarantee he will be on the next Galaxy cruise, but if he is the type of guide they hire you will be in good hands. My partner and I had a great experience and I hope you do too.
