Hakuna Matata Lodge features a beautiful pool for the exclusive use of guests at the lodge, shaped as one of the most prominent trademarks in Archidona, a tall palm tree called (chonta). A large pool with warm water ( 77° F, 25° C) that guest can enjoy throughout the day or at night. From 1 to 7 feet in depth, the pool caters to a variety of guests, from swimming to casual leisure in the shallow area of the pool . Lounge areas are available in the pool surroundings with sun chairs, a massage bench and hammocks. The pool lends to panoramic views of the Llanganati mountains, adding to the overall experience and enjoyment of guests.

White Water Rafting
Hakuna Matata Lodge, in their continued efforts to offer guests an impeccable service has partnered with the best rafting provider in Ecuador. Leading service for rafting and kayaking, guests will be able to participate in adrenaline packed activities in white rivers like Anzu, Jantunyacu, Misahualli, and Hollin. Intensity and difficulty vary between 2 to 4+-class rivers, catering family friendly to professional demanding whitewater rafting tours. It goes without saying all tours fully comply with international standards and safety regulations.

In the midst of flora and fauna, Hakuna Matata Lodge allows guest to discover the surroundings with self-guided treks, guided hikes, amazon discovery and horseback riding among many other exclusive programs. Programs have been adjusted to cater a wide variety of guests and possibilities. Full fledged programs of 3 and 4 days ensure the most time efficient schedule to maximize guests time since day one. Among the few lodges to combine easy going activities in the amazon with other exhilarating alternatives in a first class lodge.
Hakuna Matata Lodge Itineraries 2019
DAY 1 – Arrival – Free time or optional activities. It all depends on your arrival time, but we suggest you take advantage of one of our optional activities at the lodge (not included), some possibilities include: a walk into our 120 hectare private reserve, swimming in our spectacular springwater pool or dipping into the crystal clear Inchillaqui river. Guided activity options: Explore our reserve with a native guide who will point out the main medicinal plants of the Amazon, a horseback ride to explore the amazing tropical scenery or an artisan chocolate workshop (from the bean to the bar). In the evening you will be able to enjoy a 3 course gourmet dinner.
DAY 2 – We will have an early 5h30 am departure towards the Arajuno river. At the take out point we will board a motor canoe that will take us to the parrot clay lek. After enjoying this nature display (as in all nature based activities no guarantees are made) we will navigate to the Santa Barbara community to enjoy an encounter with the Kichwa culture and share a traditional Amazonian breakfast with the locals. We will then take a guided walk into the primary rainforest at the Jatun Sacha wilderness reserve. Lunch will be served at the small port town of Misahualli. In the afternoon we return to our lodge where you can enjoy all the facilities. In the evening, we will be treated to a delicious three course dinner at our restaurant.
DAY 3 – We start the day with a delicious breakfast. We will then head to the put out spot at the Jacunyacu river. This section of the Jatunyacu is a class 3/3+ and is considered easy to moderate, a perfect mix of adventure and fun. Our river journey will be made up of 25 km (aprox. 15,5 miles) of rapids, natural pools and the amazing Amazonia scenery. No experience is required and the activities are suited for all ages. Throughout our journey we will find a peaceful spot to relax on the river banks and enjoy a picnic lunch. In the afternoon we return to our lodge where you can enjoy all the facilities. In the evening, we will be treated to a delicious three course dinner at our restaurant.
DAY 4 – Free Time – Optional activities at the Lodge – Departure
As our time at Hakuna Matata Amazon Lodge comes to its end, it is still possible to take a last dip in the pool or take part in an optional homestyle chocolate making workshop.
