The ship will offer two distinct itineraries, the seven-day Wild Galápagos Escape and the ten-day Wild Galápagos & Peru Escape, which includes land tours to Cusco, Machu Pichu, Lima, and the Sacred Valley.
Both routes visit several islands in the Galápagos, including Santa Cruz, Darwin’s, Espanola, and others. During a thorough restoration in Europe, the 32-passenger cruise ship formerly known as the Crystal Esprit was turned into the new National Geographic Islander II for Lindblad Expeditions. According to the firm, the 22-day drydock includes a complete renovation of all public areas and cabins in an effort to enhance the visitor experience to an altogether new level.
There are 26 suites, each with huge windows, convertible king/twin beds, couches, marble bathrooms with double sinks, stocked minibars, Wi-Fi, flat-screen televisions, and adequate closet space. The lodgings, which will be utilized solely by Galápagos community members, local and international researchers, educators, storytellers, and other specialists, provide guests with a stronger connection to people and place. In addition to the hotel renovations, the yacht, built in 1989, also underwent work on its technological characteristics, including the installation of critical environmental and fuel-saving enhancements. Among these are decreased external illumination, specialized hull paint, and water reclaimed from modern air conditioning systems.
Lindblad runs the National Geographic Endeavour II in addition to the Islander II in the Galápagos. Since its 2016 acquisition, the 96-passenger exploration ship has conducted year-round sailings in the Ecuadorian archipelago.
